Take A Mold!

This morning we went to Cameron's Orthotist and he got a mold taken of his head so they could make a helmet for him. I was pretty worried because the doctor told us that the babies usually cry because it freaks them out. Cameron handled it SO WELL, right up until the last minute... The process was so cute I could hardly handle it. I just wanted to SQUEEZE his chubby cheeks, good thing I was using my hands to hold him on my lap or I may have given in to the squeeze-urge!

Here he is when we got there:

Now he's a little unsure, I think he's getting a vibe..

Oh my, don't you just want to kiss those cheeks??

After this initial 'hat', the doctor put strips of plaster-soaked gauze all around his head.

The last strip of gauze went on the back of Cameron's head. The doctor had to hold it tight until it dried, which was a few minutes. This is when Cameron finally "voiced" his opinion of the craziness!

Then it was time to take off the casted helmet. Cameron's hair was pretty sweet when he pulled everything off his head.

The helmet will be ready on September 12th, two weeks from today. Here's where I need YOUR help. Please think of some funny sayings we can put on his helmet! Sam's friend suggested "I'm not handicapped, I'm handicapable" which I think rocks!

What are some other suggestions?

Also, I'm pretty sure he'll have this helmet through Halloween. What are some cool Halloween costumes we could do that would incorporate a helmet?

I am determined to make this fun AND funny!

Hey I am new in your ward and I found your blog through Laura's. I hope you dont mind I am not blog stalking you. Check out blog out sometime....www.thelarsenfam.blogspot.com My little girl had a blast playing with your litte Parker at teh pool last week. She really enjoying getting to know him. I think you have such a super cute family. Also I saw someone at the mall yesterday getting stickers for their son's helmet and I thought of you. I think you are such a great mom to be able to allow the doctors to help him and to try to enjoy it in the mean time. I look up to you for being so strong. And i have to agree I love the insurance scam idea! Also an idea for Halloween coudl be a football player!

Oh man-thats a crazy process. It looked like he had on a lacy bonnett for a minute.I wonder if you can take baseball caps and somehow cut them down the back and add some fabric to make them big enough around-then you could have different hats to go with different outfits-oh geeeze, maybe I do want Browen to end up with a helmet.how about a harley davidson rider for halloween-or I bet you could find a big oldfashioned pilot hat -you know the brown leather ones with the strap-and he could have some cool goggles to go with it.

Karie,
I think I mentioned it one day in the office that I am a stalker but I couldnt help comment on how cute Cameron is and the helmet process. Hang in there, in a few shot months, it will be a distant memory. I LOVE the Insurance scam idea.

Carrie, I thought of another one...

"CO-PILOT" across the front.

Cameron looks so sweet! Oh, I'm so glad he was good for you guys! I'll bet that makes it 100 times easier to get through it all. I always thought that Owen looked like he was going into batting practice with his helmet on-just an idea! Batters Up!

Dang that boy is cute!!
I think that you should dress him up like an old school boxer... One of those leather helmets, a big shiner, and silk shorts.
When Ginny had to have a walker, we decorated it all cute and made her license plate that said "Pimp My Ride". I guess that a helmet doesn't qualify as a ride though.

I think he should be Eval Kaneval. You know, the american cape and american helmet? That would be awesome. You guys have a great attitude about the whole thing.

Maybe you could decorate it with poems and butterflies :)
Halloween? What about somebody bald, like Mr. Clean?
