Remember Cameron's excercises? Even after doing them morning and night I don't think he appreciates them yet.
My brother Darren and his family came to Utah on Thursday so we played at the park on Thursday, made dinner at my parent's house on Friday, and went to Lagoon on Saturday. Cheesy Darren, just pure cheese.
Sorry Cameron, you can't come to Lagoon. Don't be hatin' okay? I promise you can go when you get older.
So, I learned a few things about going to Lagoon with kids. First and foremost, I am a little selfish at heart and hanging out on kiddie rides is hard for me (sorry kids). Second of all, if you are going to bring your 7, almost 8 year old to Lagoon for the first time...you MUST PREP THE CHILD! We literally walked into Lagoon and hopped on the big white roller coaster first thing. Poor Carson. He and his cousin were in the car behind me. I turned around at the first big hill to see Carson's reaction. I thought he would be screaming with joy, but that's not what I saw. I saw PURE TERROR like I've never seen on his face before (I guess it's good that I've not seen this face before, I must be doing something right!). His mouth was wide open, his face was red except around his eyes and that part was ghostly white, his eyes were squinty closed, and I could hear his terrified screams. Honestly, I didn't laugh. My heart ached for him. I am pretty sure he thought he was going to fall off the roller coaster because every hill that we went up and over really fast he freaked out. It wasn't until the ride ended that he calmed down. I tried to do damage control and explain to him that the ride was fast and crazy and that's what makes it fun. He wasn't convinced. He then proceeded to ride a bunch of kiddie rides after that. Such as the merry-go-round...Phew, pure adereneline.
Now Parker on the other hand, he was just happy to be doing whatever. This was another lesson I learned. I don't think 4 year olds have a built in fear factor yet. Some of the rides Parker went on surprised me because he had an almost bored face while on them and I was screaming and laughing out of fun at the same time. A good example was the roller coaster "The Bat". I was worried that Parker would be terrified but he liked it. So, 4 is a good age, 7 requires some prepping. There, now you are educated!
This is a ride I won't touch with a 10 foot pole, The Music Express. Dizzy dizzy dizzy. When Sam, Mel, and Parker first got on this ride, Parker was between Sam and Mel. I was dying because I knew Parker would get smooshed! Luckily, the ride operator made them switch spots. Parker ended up loving this ride.

Rattlesnake Rapids was a fun one with everybody. I always end up being pretty lucky on this ride and I rarely get wet. But now there is this waterfall towards the end of the ride and the boat goes right underneath it. It's pretty impossible NOT to get wet now.

I love this picture. What could the caption be? Something like "so close, yet so far away". OH YEAH, notice how the tint isn't blue even though I didn't use the flash? Sam and I thought our camera was dying, but then my brother Darren took it and pushed a few buttons and Wha-La, no more blue. Apparently there is a setting that makes things blue in case you are in yellow light. Whatever, at least it's fixed now. Thanks Darren!
As luck would have it, we ran into some friends while we were at Lagoon. Here they are on the Wild Mouse. Sam is brave to use the camera while on these rides, I totally would have dropped it! Sam doesn't usually have a double chin, I think he was extra scared or something! :)
It was a fun day at Lagoon but next time I go it will be on a weekday without children. Who wants to come with us?
Remember, 4 year olds don't seem to be as scared at 7 year olds.
It still makes my heart hurt for Carson.

Oh Carrie, I hurt for Parker, but can't stop laughing either, sorry. That terrified crapless picture of him on the tidal wave almost made me pee my pants, but then again, I felt sad for him too. It's bitter sweet, really it is.
I so suck for not going to Lagoon with everyone else, but chaos gives me anxiety and my house is a full on panic attack for me right now.
OH, sweet memories! I remember the year the colossus was built. I was 10 and my parents made me go on the ride. I SOBBED the whole time in the line. But once the terror was over, I liked it. Fast forward a few years, and I have Sarah in the head-lock in the tidal wave line. She sobbed and I MADE her ride it. I think she could tie with Carson in "who has the most scared face." Last time we were at lagoon, Sarah cried because I made her ride the scaries, and Kate cried because she wasn't yet tall enough for the scaries. I miss lagoon.
HAHAHA!!! A few comments...can't you tell your kiddos apart (LOL you put Parker's excercises instead of Cameron. hehehe) LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures of Carson...that's just classic. We want to take Tanner, but sometimes I worry it'll be a total waste of money. As for "buddies" we will go with you next year, I LOVE Lagoon!

Ah, Lagoon, a delight of the senses: the smell of engine grease and rotting cheese sauce, the screams of 10-year old girls, the killer view from the thrilling sky ride (especially the dropped shoes), the bleat of the traumatized goats under the roller coaster.
I miss you guys!! Those are some awesome pictures.
count me in- love to take the day off work!! mel's version of sam on the wild mouse is hilarious! I feel for carson, but glad that he got over it-- good to instill their own fears into our kids and not our own!!
That was a great time. I remember going to Lagoon in Hansen's big brown van. It was like a little apartment on wheels. Nat, I too remember when the Colosus was built (and I think it originally only had one loop). I also remember Ryan had a Colosus t-shirt that was pretty sweet.

Carson's face on the Tidal Wave is so great!! Next time I would definitely rather do Lagoon without the kidlets; Ellie wouldn't even look at the Tidal Wave and refused the Music Express, whereas Ben's face was pure delight on both of those rides (he rode Tidal Wave twice and kept his hands in the air the entire ride); he was just so sad that he wasn't tall enough for all of the rides!
